BAC Training Tip - The Baby Press-Up
Purpose: This exercise is an excellent way to interact with your baby socially, while strengthening your arms, chest and shoulders. This exercise also helps baby strengthen head, trunk and legs. Target Area: Arms, chest and shoulder muscles.
Who Can Benefit From This Exercise: Women with weak arm, chest, or shoulder muscles. Men, women, and children who desire to exercise socially with family members. Instruction: Lie on back with legs on ball. Hold baby on chest. Press baby up toward ceiling as you exhale. SMILE at your baby! Lower baby to chest, and kiss your baby! Hold: 3 seconds. Repeat 3-12 repetitions. Frequency: 2-4 times a week. As the exercise becomes easier perform 2 to 3 sets. Hints: If for any reason you feel unstable with this exercise, remove ball and place feet on ground while performing exercise. |
