What are the benefits of using a personal trainer?

Individuals have different reasons to seek out personal training services. Some have a desire to improve their general fitness levels; others may desire to lose weight, or train for a specific sport or event. Regardless of what your personal goals are, with the help of a personal trainer you may be able to achieve your desired results more efficiently. All personal trainers on our staff have earned their knowledge through either a four-year degree in exercise science, physical education (or a health related field), or have a certification from a national recognized organization. Inquire at the front desk for more information about the personal trainers on staff.

What is therapeutic yoga?

Therapeutic yoga focuses on the uniqueness of your body aches and injuries. The yoga therapist develops a plan to improve joint range of motion, balance, and strength, using breathing exercises, visualization, and yoga poses.

What’s the difference between personal training and physical therapy?

A personal trainer is a fitness professional who is hired for private instruction to teach, assist and encourage a trainee to lose weight, achieve fitness goals, modify or design an exercise routine, and address diet concerns.  A personal trainer can help motivate you to exercise and provide accountability for exercise sessions.  When you see a personal trainer you can expect to have your strength, flexibility, and fitness levels assessed, and measurements, body mass index, and heart rate tested.

A physical therapist is a licensed healthcare professional who provides services to help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical limitations. A PT works to restore, maintain and promote overall fitness and health by designing individualized exercise programs, performing manual therapy or massage, and using ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and biofeedback when necessary. When you see a physical therapist you can expect to have your medical history, strength, range of motion, balance, posture, muscle performance, gait patterns, and motor function examined. Physical therapy is usually covered by medical insurance.
